What to do first
- If the death is unexpected at home, call 911. In a hospital or hospice, staff will guide you.
- Call your masjid. They arrange ghusl, the janazah prayer and burial.
- Tell the hospital or funeral home the family wants a prompt Islamic burial, without embalming.
- Share the janazah time with family and community once it’s confirmed.
