What to do first

  1. If the death is unexpected at home, call 911. In a hospital or hospice, staff will guide you.
  2. Call your masjid. They arrange ghusl, the janazah prayer and burial.
  3. Tell the hospital or funeral home the family wants a prompt Islamic burial, without embalming.
  4. Share the janazah time with family and community once it’s confirmed.
